PHYSICAL TRAINING
SYSTEM EXTENDED AY (ARK IN SCHOOLS Per Press Association. Wellington, December 2. With the object of improving the i physical stamina, of tin* school children throughout the Dominion, fh Education Department, is making spe cial efforts to increase the scope cf the system of physical training that has been operating ill some primary and secondary schools for a number ' of years. A new manual for the guidance oT teachers is being issued a»;, the beginning of the year, and training college students will apply themselves to a knowledge of this science as a part of their teaching course. The Department has for spin© years been organsing a modified system of physical training in the schools, under the direction of Air J. Renfrew White, the orthopedic specialist attached to the Otago Tanlversity. This system, which began ip Dunedin, was for selected third.year students of training colleges, who have been doing useful work in introducing it throughout the schools at which they have been engaged.
