Watkins, M.P., that British experiments in extracting oil from coal disclosed that the process was too costly that the process was too costly being* 350 per cent, more than the present cost of natural oil. He added that miners' leaders making optimistic speeches concerning the possibilities of extracting oil from coal, and said that this was regrettable. He said that it tended to to stimulate false hopes in the depressed coalfields.
