As a result of her trade treaty with Canada- Australia, of all her lumber purchases on this .Continent, to-day buys 75 per cent, in British .Columbia, as compared with 2t> l>er cent, a year ago. The direct benefit from the treaty is illustrated by the following figures: In duly and August. 1030. Australia bought 10,000.000 feet of timber from the States of Oregon and Washington. C.S.A.. but this year she purchased less than 4.000.000 feet in tile same States. In July and August. 1031; Australia bought 12,000.000 feet in Vancouver, compared with (i. 000,000 in the same months of last year.
