END OF THE CONFERENCE
ELECTION OF OFFICERS SPEED OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES (Per Press Association) Havvera, August 22. Officers elected at the North Island Motor Union Conference were as followers: President Air V. O’ Callaghan (Hawei'a) ; v ..eo-preshi,mts. Dr A. Porritfc (Wanganui), and Air J. H. Edmundson (Hawke’s Bay). The next conference will be held at Palmerston. OBJECTION OFFERED The conference decided ;to oppose tho increase in the ?p£pd of heavy commercial vehicles as proposed under the heavy traffic regulations ou the grounds that a. faster speed for such vehicles would cause greatly increased costs in load and bridge maintenance and a substantial increase in the danger to the travelling public.
