BANK OF ENGLAND ISSUE A TOTAL OF 1-27-LOOO,OOO PERIOD OF THREE WEEKS (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Rugby, August 22. A Treasury minute was published to-night giving authority to the Bank of England to issue fiduciary bank notes to a total of £272,0*>0,000 lor n further period of three weeks. The minute says the hank represented to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Philip Snowden, that it was expedient to maintain the increase in tlie fiduciary' note issue.
