AND G IRES’ ( OCRS The Secretary of tlie Boys and Gills’ Agricultural Clubs forwarded copy of results of competitions, pro"taitfnic for year, a.ml inviting this Association ti. appoint two members to the Committee of Organisation. On the motion of the President, the Committee donated CO 6s to the funds of the Clubs, and appointed Messrs AVild and J. G. Eliott as delegatrs. IAIPRO V EAI ENT OF FLOCKS Canterbury a. and P. Association, forwarded circular letter containing, proposals f'»r the improvement of Hocks and herds. Briefly the suggestions were that farmers and breeders should bo barred from selling scrub and badly formed stock tor breeding pili''fXVSOS. The President said the letter presented an old matter in a. new guise. They all agreed it was necessary to improve the I,reeds of stock, but they were still waiting for a scheme. Wlmt was a scrub bull, for instance. They all knew that th« worst kind of scrub bull was one with a pedigree. The question was a most difficult one. Mr Knight proposed t liat the Committee approve of the suggestion, adding that he hoped they would get the scheme. The motion was seconded by Air B. McLeod. Air Cnmpbc.ll was of opinion they should only receive the letter. They might he making themselves responsible for* more Government expenditure, a thing which they must avoid at the present time. Mr Sandilands said the Jersey-Cat-tie Breeders’ Association had suffiei eu, funds to.carry olut such a scheme, if the members of that Association bad the stuffing in them to carry it out. without cost to the Government. The motion was carried. LIFE MEMBERS The following were appointed Life Members of the Association, these gentlemen having fulfilled the financial obligation.—Messrs Jas. Knight and J. AY. Rramwell. THE SCHEDULE The Committee received reports from the various Schedule Committees and adopted them. GROUND COAT A HTTEE’ R REPORT On behalf of the Ground Committee Mr Roddy reported that they disposed of the plantation of nmerorarpn trees for the sum of £25. Surplus posts wire, etc., of no immediate use to the Association has been sold and realised the sum of £lO. The drains in paddocks have been cleaned at a cost of €1 12s 6d and those drains around the sheds have also been cleaned by a returned soldiet on subsidy basis for £1 10s. Boreived.

DESPATCH RACE The suggestions for the proposed despatch rSice were that the race be open for any horse, pony or inriper’s hack .registered horses not competing at the show not 1° he eligible. The Committee discussed whether or not there would be time for this event. Mr Younger said it was proposed to hold all the ring events on the one dav and he did not know whether they would have time. He suggested the competition might lie held over for a vear. Mr Buchanan said lie had suggested the '■‘'toe a* an attraction to the show. It was decided to include th» race.

CATER ING The President reported lie had spoken to several women’s organisations mi the matter of getting their help in doing the catering at the show, and lie gathered these organisations wore willing to assist. He proposed therefore that the Committee arrange with tile various women’s societies t° undertake the conduct of catering. If that were acceptable, then the. Commit lee could ask the co-opera* tion of these organisations. The motion was seconded by Air Knight. Air Evans raised the question whether it was right for the Association to ask their women folk to do the work at no charge, thus depriving ■ waitresses and others from work which was very important to thorn in. this time of stress. Air Roddy said the same arguments had been brought no against the wofkiug bees for cleaning Up after the show. Tt was a. matter of life and death for the Association, they had to curtail their expenditure in order to keep tlio Association going. Mr Boddv added that he favoured a counter lunch, as being something which could be kept to. a . standard. The Committee should stick to Feilding. After further discussion, it was agreed to try tlu- experiment for next show. PROPOSED ART UNION The President reported for the Executive that it was proposed to ioin in an art union, inquiries had been made and it was found there ere 180 applications in for art unions, and these at the rate of six a year would take 30 years tot exhaust. It had been found that the Wanganui Association and and the Egmont Association had joined.in applying for permission to conduct- an art union, and the executive proposed that this Association should endeavour to join in with those northern Assoeatious with the object of getting in reasonable early. The Committee agreed to he pronnsal that such an endeavour should lie made, application to* he made to the northern Associations as suggested. SEC R ETA RIA LDUTI ES The President proposed on behalf of the Executive that Aliss D. Miller be appointed acting Secretary for the next six months. This would carry the Association over the next show. Il uas further proposed to appoint an organiser for the show yo take charge of the ground work at the show.
