COMPULSORY VOTING The voting is on the preferential system and the •distribution of pro - fcroiiec votes cannot he undertaken for some days, hut the figures appear to. indicate that the Government has gained four seats. The voting was compulsory for the first time. The voting wa s compulsory for the first time. NATIONALIST VIEW Premier McPhee said the vote shewed that the people appreciated tlie serious position of Australia and the result of Tasmania’s would help to wards correcting the unstable c. ndi-tio-.ns and should help towards the restoration of confidence. VOICE OF LABOUR The Leader of the Labour Opposition All- Ogilvie, said the majority of the people had accepted tlie assurance ot the, Government that if it v.as returned iho financial position would improve. The next six months would disillusion them and they would regref their Aide in the hard times ahead. AS IT WAS At the dissolution the House comprised 15 Nationalists. 14 Labour and one Independent.
