GRAIN AND PRODUCE

LOW PRICES FOR POTATOES CANTERBURY MARKETS (Fer Press Association). Christchurch, May 8. The grain and produce markets remain fairly quiet. The potato section is suffering from a severe relapse and values are lower to-day than at any corresponding period for a great many years. The quotation has fallen tu 05s f.o.h. equivalent to T-2 5s per ton on trucks for July and June-JuU delivery. Potatoes have been sold at 70s f.o.h. for July-August-September delivery. Sellers demand £4 a ton f.0.h., but there are buyers only at £5 17s fid. Wheat crop statistics have caused a great ileal of discussion as figures are in advance of anticipations. However, at the moment market quotations have not been affected and remain as at the time of the mid-week report.
