WORK AT ELLERSLIE Weather conditions were perfect for training operations at F.llerslie (says rhe Auckland Star), and although tho ground was cutting out slightly the going was fairly good. AH the fast work was done on No. i grass track, on which the poles werc six feet out from the rails. Bonny Mumble and Hawthorn wer sent five furlongs, running the distance in 1.4 2-5. Both went nicely. Gold Aloney was timed to run the last three furlongs of her work in 3<Ssec. She hit out- freely. Silvermine.was holding- Chief Link safely ar. the finish of five furlongs which occupied 1.3 2-5. This was a good effort, and both horses are looking in nice order. Alalaria sprinted home from the half mile in 52sec. Ruling King, who will contest a minor event at Avondale on Saturday, got to the end of six furlongs in r. iS 4-5. Rafflight and Stimulant . were on terms over six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. Eager Rose was doing hotter than Patutahi at the end of a mile in 1.47 3-5. Singlejon and Art Gallery „ were on terms after covering five furlongs in !-4 3-5-Good Idea, going comfortably, completed six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Manawhonua and United were together in front of Tatyoon after running four furlongs in 40 2-5. The two year old Dark Marble shaped nicely in a half mile sprint, which he compassed in 40 4-SSOC. Tlie best sprint of the morning over six furlongs was that of Prince Val, who covered the distance in i- 15 3-5-Rangikaha, going nicely, got to the end of six furlongs in I.IR 2-4. The fastest half mile of the morning was .registered by Hampton Park, who finished in front, of Gold Day in 48 1-SSOO. This was a very smart effort, both horses going well, partfcularlv Gold Day, who was wide out. Prince Lll gave Liiress n start and caught him at. the end of six furlongs, which occupied 1.20 1-5. Both geldings look well after their recent racing, Karapoti, Bright Glow, ajul I.aU' Onex were given useful pace work. \Vako King and High Pitch gave a. safe display over a. round of the schooling hurdles. High Pitch jumped much better than lie ha s s previously done. TAKAXIN f GALLOPS At Takanini yesterday morning, all the work was done on the middle grass, which was in good order. Eaglet was a length ahead of Envoy at the end of six furlongs in 1 -15 1-5. This was the best of the morning over the distance. Trustee, who was allotted a similar task, was eased up over the lasi furlong*, to run 1.20. Camp Prince pleased letter than Taurua at the end of six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Spoedmint was given strong workover six furlongs, and registered 3Qsec for the last three. High Comedy and Royal Artist also took 3Qsec for three furlongs. High Comedy is an unlikely starter on Saturday, but Royal Artist will race on the second day of the Avondale .meeting. .Sub-Editor, who .is working well, was a length in front of Vandyke at the end of six furlongs in 1.16 3-5. Bronze Eagle and Havering finished together at the end of five furlongs in 1.2 i-5- Bronze Eagle was under restraint and could have improved on this time. He will be a starter in the AH .Aged Slake? at Avondale on Saturday. AT AVONDALE The course proper, with the trestles out about 70ft., was available for fast work at Avondale this morning, and the going was good. ATauriaena ran a mile easily in T -53 3-5-Superfine and Emancipation finished on terms at the end of five furlongs in 1.7 2-5. Simfnt took 54 2-ssec for half a mile, while Spring Abbey covered six furlongs in 1.25. On the plough British Princess finished in front of Lady’s Boy over four furlongs in 52sec.
