CANTERBURY COMPLAINT A complaint that imported chaff contained various diseases that were likely to be a menace to local oat crops was recently received by the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. The subject was referred to the Minister of Agriculture, ITon. A. J. Murdoch, from whom the following letter was deceived: “I can advise you that my department has already made examinations of imported chaff from time to time and will continue to do so. Should you have any information as to disease contamination of Australian chaff, it will bo of great. assistance to the department if you will furnish it.” The branch decided to supply the Minister with particulars of cases in which contamination had occurr*4-
