Referring to the action of the polite in impounding the funds of; the Waipapakauri Racing Club, the j president (Mr T. J.. Fleming) stated j that arrangements .thad previously been made with the .management of j the company at whose, instance the j police acted for . extended credit, and one-third of the total account 1 was to be paid on . the 30th April, with promissory notes for two fur- j ther payments, bearing interest at G. per cent. The Auckland principals, how- 1 ever, recently informed the club that these terms were not acceptable, but- it came as a shock to the club when it found itself relieved of the .whole of the money received at the meeting. Mr Fleming said that as a result of this, action -the: club was placed in a most embarrassing position, and although nearly- £3 OOO had been sjrent on its property and the course was the best -in North Auckland, j the club would %o,\,v probably be forced into liquidation. The committee, held an emergency | meeting yasterday, and it was un- ( animously decided that no matter what the outcome of the proceedings the committee would see that the jockeys and winning owners were paid in full. The prize money at the meeting totalled £2 50. RIDES SIX SECONDS DOOLEY’S LATEST FEAT AT THE BEAUMONT -MEETING Apparently not satisfied w-ith his unique feat of riding six winners in the six galloping ~ events on the opening day of the Beaumont ing Club’s meeting on Saturday, J. Ellis.

The New Zealand-bred colt Veilmond added the Australian Jockey Club’s St. Leger to his other successes last Saturday. When Aberfeldy fell in the hurdle race at Riccarton on Monday he received injuries to his mouth, and will require a short spell. Judged on his running at Riccarton, Limerick is evidently on the down grade. lie looked as well as ever he did, but speed and stamina are lacking. Boundary Hit, who made her first appearance under silk in the Russley Plate at Riccarton, is by \Yinning Hit from Helter Skelter, the dam of the brilliant Childsplay. At Randwick on Saturday two 1 prominent New Zealand-bred horses failed. Chide disappointed in the Autumn Stakes, while Waterline ran 1 below expectations in the Doncaster 1 landicap, for which he had been a warm favourite during the'pa.st fortnight. I Mount Boa must be classed as a, - very unlucky horse at the start of; : several of his races. In the Great j Handicap at Riccarton this week he' ; was once more slow to find his feet,; * and had a lot of ground to make .up. On the outside of the big field his finishing run to get within a | length of the winner was very creditable under the circumstances. Mr Sol Green is again on his way : to England, his principal object being to see Strephon run. His chestnut is to be a runner in the Coronation C'up at Epsom in June, ana I if he is ever going to acclimatise he ! should do so this year. Strephon was sent to England after his wins at Randwick in the autumn of 1929, so he is now well on his way to two years in the Old Country . Sharp Thorn, who cost the present owner, Mr W. Norman, of Halswcll, 200gn.-. when he secured him in February from the Chokel>oro stable, repaid a good portion of his purchase money in stakes by winning the Autumn Plate at the recent C.J.C. meeting. He is bred on solid lines, and is a half-brother to good performers in Iliorndale and Prickles. Sharp Thorn is only three years old, and is capable of further improvement, so that his new owner should enjoy further successes with him. ! —— ■■
