THE BOARD’S MEETING BUSINESS DOVE A meeting ol Lhe Foxtoii Harbour Board was held yesterday, Mr J. Liuklater, M.P., pres ding over Messrs J. A. Nash. M.P., M. Perreau. R. Edwards, \V. E. Barber, and H. A. Kellow. BEACH ROAD The secretary said that Mr H. D. Bond, Alaiuiwatu Couify engineer, had estimated the cost of metalling Sanitation .Road in under to give access to the lieacli se.l ions, at £7OO. An alternative estimate of £550 was given for placing only four inches ot metal. A portion of the road would have to bo raised.

Air Barber referred to an estimate of £2Bl for metalling wheel tracks. He contended that this would serve present needs. The secretary said that if Llie new road were put through, a large number of uew sections would be leased, with a consequent improvement in the finances. Mr Kollov: If an aerodrome is to bo eroded on the beach a road will be essential.

Air Edwards: It- is going to be dangerous for children with aeroplanes landing. Al r Barber: That is very much in the future. Air Perreau advocated improving tlie present road. The secretary: Tin j road is costing us £7 a year for damage caused close to the store.

It was suggested that an increased levy of 2s 6d be made oil the section holders to defray part, of the ex pen so.

All- Nash said that the Beach Improvement Society had offered £2O towards the cost of securing a. good access to the beach. The master was referred vo a committee to report to the next meeting. SAND GRASS PLANTING The secretary reported as follows on sand grass planting: During tlie month 1. with a gang, have been engaged in marram planting. AJy esti mate of the area treated is about 13 acres, costing £ll 12s. Of I liis area there is about two acres set aside m various she'tered localities for nurseries were young and healthy plants will be drawn from it for future plant,mg. Doubtless the bulk of the area, treated will also provide a certain amount of plants for next year's operations. With nurs’eries already established 1 expect to cover a more extcns.vp area next season as a ceif-aiu amount of delay in gathering suitable and healthy plants wi 1 be reduced to a minimum. If I am able to find time to add to the area, now set: aside for nurseries within tlio next week or so the work will be undertaken.
