MIL RANSOM TO LEAD POST FOR SIR APIRAXA NGATA MR. COJ5 BE TAKES CUSTOMS AGAIN Cabinet (sat almost contiituously over the week-end, and numerous questions which had to be finalised before the Prim e Minister’s departure for tile Imperial Conference today were disposed of. Various aspects of the political situation were discussed, and the remaining business of the session, which will lie dealt with in til,, absence of Mr. Forbes, received close attention.
Late last night the Prime Minister announced that during his absence rile Hon. E. A. Itansom who at j>resenr holds the portfolio of Lands, would he Acting- Prime Minister. MiRansom will also take over Finance and External Affairs, and lie will in addition l>e Minister in Charge of the Department of Scientific and industrial Research. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe. Minister of Defence, will act as Minister of Customs. and Sir Apirnna Xgata, L1..1t.. Minister of Native Affairs, will fake over from Sir Thomas Sidey ill,, portfolio of Attorney-General.
