In other instances there wore small small riots in which the police fired on the. mob. The. city is at. present desolated, Mills, bazaars and shops are closed and ail traffic is at a standstill. Following raids on the Lucknow police station meahine guns have been posted at various centres. A crowd of 5000 men stormed tlie Bombay (police, quarters and the assistant. superintendent was killed. At Dacca, the Moslems and Hindus clashed. Many of tho. latter were murdered in the streets by gangs ol Moslems and armoured ears are at yrrsont patrolling; tlio city.
