At a meeting of the Wairarapa Presbytery, the call of the Rev. RCathcrwood to Carterton was sustained. General Sir George Richardson, exAdministrator of Samoa, has been elected president of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association. An Apia radio message was received in Auckland yesterday from ColAllen, stating definitely that he had expressed no wish to retire from the post of Administrator for Samoa. Mr Charles Siurtridge, a naval veteran, has just celebrated his 05 tri birthday in Auckland. He is a survivor form the wreck of the Orpheus on the Manuka Bar. The Comte de Galenbert, chief administrative officer of Indo-China, accompanied by Comtessc de Galenbert and their daughter, are making a tour of the Dominion.

Mr N. C. Martin, director of the Atlantic Union Oil Co., Ltd., left Wellington yesterday to connect with the Aorangi which leaves Auckland on Monday next for a five months 7 holiday tour of America.

Dr. A. H. Mclndoe has been appointed a surgeon in the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, near New York, There are 14 surgeons at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Mclndoe, whose parents reside in Dunedin, is 31 years of age. lie has served for seven years with the Mayo brothers.

The general committee of the Feilding A. and P. Association last night passed a motion of sympathy with relatives of the late Mr T. Hea\ns and Mr P. G. Francis respectively. Both these gentlemen had been members of the Association almost since its inception.

Mr E. Burrell (President) at the meeting of the Show Committee last night expressed' the hope of the committee that Air Dermer would have a pleasant and enjoyable trip to the Old Country. Mr Dermer thanked the President and members for the courtesy. Leave of absence was granu d Mr Dermer for the term of his holiday.
