SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD (Per Fires* Association). Christchurch, April 17.. Obituary.—Sir George Clifford, aged S’ years. The second baronet, he succeeded to llie title in 1803. He married a daughter of the Rev. G. Dennis in iSqi and has three daughters, one of whom i;s the well known nviatrix. He became a barrister in IX7O, but took u p farming at Am bet ley on a station originally taken up by .Sir Charles Clifford and Sir Frederick Weld. Sir George had for very many years been the most prominent sportsman in the Dominion, President of the Racing Conference and a frequent winner with his horses.
