AGRTCULTUR A L INSTRUCT! ON
The chief agricultural instructor reported as follows to the Wanganui Education Board : The total time of Mr Lange and practically the full time of Mr Cork and myseslf has ben taken up with the initial judging of the root crops of te boys’ and girls’ agricultural clubs.
The first visits t° schools for the purposes of inestruction have commenced and schemes are- being, prepared. So far, in: the few schools visited, the outdoor garden work shows an improvement though neglect during the recent vacation, when conditions were* so favourable! toi weed growth, has resulted in the usual comparative failure of some crops. Records of the outdoor studies in note* books and on charts have improved considerably and valuable data in collection with special research undertaken has been collected. Each year sees an improvement in the knowledge of the classes in such, work as the identification of weeds, insect and fungoid pests, methods of crop experimentation and relation of plant t<> soil and we can report a very healthy condition o f the work to date.
