MANY APPLICATIONS PREPARING FOR. RESUMPTION (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) Sydney, March 21). There was no outstanding development in the coal situation to-day, although the Prime Minister indicated that he was unable to attend the miners’ convention as requested. The mineowners announced there have teen many additional applications for work, and several collieries are being prepared for resumption of operations. Howard Smith Ltd., announce that they lost £57,000 on their northern collieries last year owing to the coal dispute. "
