Tlie Prime Minister lias issued the following statement; — As pointed out in toe last budget, the financial position of tho State superannuation funds i.e. the public service, railways’ and teachers’ funds is far from satisfactory. In accordance with the proposal contained in the budget, it lias now been decided to set up a committee to investigate the position and report to the Government on the state of the- fund? and generally what action is necessary to placo superannuation for the public seervices on a, sound and satisfactory footing. The committee will consist of tlie following. Tlie Public Service Commissioner (chairman and convenor), the financial adviser fo tlie Government and three others one t° bo appointed by each of the three superannuation boards concerned.
