ABLAZE WITH BONFIRES
LIBERATION JUBILEE FETES
Throughout Bulgaria on the night of May 15 the mountain-tops were ablaze with bonfires in celebration of ilie 50th anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria from Turkey. These bonfires served also as a greeting to Macedonians, wlio saw them across fho frontiers of Jugoslavia and Greece. •. ,
A relay of runners . carried “t he sacred Are" to King ißoris in in's palace. At a preliminary commemorative sitting of Parliament speeches were delivered by th e .Premier and fli President of the House befoer the siatue of the Tsar Alexander, to whom Bulgaria owes its independence. ; /•'; ; : ’;- In the course of the- celebrations choirs sang .BiWgarian and Russian national melodies in the presence of troops. Sokols and thousands of delegates from all parts of the country.
