ACQUISITION OF LAND
FOR NELSON COLLEGE FOR TWO HOSTELS (Per Press Associationi Nelson. June 26. The Minister of Education (lion. TT. At more) lias telegraphed to Mr Frank Hamilton, chairman of the Nelson Ce»llege Board of Governors, Intimating that Cabinet bad agreed to his recommendation for a grant for the acquisition of seven acres near 1 lie college. The firs! ad of the new Minister was to obtain a “grant for the purpose of creeling two' hostels to meet the overcrowding existing in the boarding accommodation in connection with the rapidly growing institution. It. is proposed to erect two bostel s on terraces, that will. give a very pleasing non-dpntinuons line of buildings, running from the present main structure by Wnimca road right through to the hillside. The. Minister's further plan is to acquire some acres on the western slope of the Grampians at: the end. so that, this may he planted with' trees, to make a proper setting for the new buildings.
