(Ter Dress Association)
Hamilton, June 24
At the inquest upon the death of Thomas William Atki nsou, aged 19, a farm, employee, who succumbed under an. anaesthetic? while undergoing a. nasal operation, Dr A. G. Waddell gave the opinion that death was due to an enlarged thymes ghind—a. very unusual fJuiidition. There were several theories as to how an .abnormal thymus brought death. It was believed to possess or was unusually susceptibl v to the action of chemical and physical agents, such as an anaesthetic. The
shook of an operation also appeared more severe in such cases. ,ln the nbscii'(e of the operating doctor and anaesthetist, the inquest was postponed.
