BUSINESS DONE TO-DAY

(Air R. AI. Watson, S.AI., on the Bench), BREACHES OF LICENSING LAW. W. H. Hart, licensee of the Empire Hotel, pleaded guilty to the charge of having sold liquor alter hours on Saturday, 25th inst. Helena AE Hart also pleaded guilty to a. similar charge. Arising out of the same incident, charges were laid against William Hoppy, Leonard E. Kreagher, Albert John Kreagher, and Frederick Whittaker of being on the licensed promises, the 'Empire Hotel, after hours, not being boarders. They all pleaded guilty. j Sorgt. Cahill stated the police bad entered the premises at 9.5 p.m. on Saturday night, and found Airs Hart had served liquor to sonic of the persons present. Hart was absent from the premises at the time. All the four non-hoarders had admitted tho offence, and both Hart and Airs Hart also pleaded guilty. Sergeant Cahill added that ho had seen Hart down the street som o . little time before the police entered the house. Hart informed the Magistrate that the men had gon 0 to the hotel about 6.30 on Saturday for dinner. Airs Hart had afterwards served the men with liquor. To the Bench : Airs Hart has kCys to the bar. TJios. F. O. Elliott (Air Cullinane) pleaded guilty to a charge of having driven his motor car past a. street intersection in Feilding at a speed greater than 15 miles an hour, on tho night of Arav 8. Ernest Short was similarly charged, the offence having been committed at the same time.
