['OITMITTBE' MEETING

The H'ancbjelsteir Street School. Committee met last night, when there were present Mr G. J. Fitzpatrick (Chairman), Mrs Fitzpatrick. Messrs Jas\ Campbell (Secretary), W. AY. Andrews, T. S. Goldsmith, P. B. Desmond, and S. McDowrfl. Apologies w/ere mcieivodfrom. Mrs Bill man and Mr E. Hosking. SCHOOL ROLL Tlip headmaster Mr R. L. McTlroy, reported that the school r<rsumed after the holidays on February 4 with an attendance of 417 and a roll number of 475. Thirty-nine new pupils had been- admitted, and close cm 70 had left, including 54 of last year’s Standard VI. THE STAFF Mr R. Hurdle, Misses D. Tregurtlva, and R. Henaghan left at the end of the last year. Mr J. H. Thomas took up duty as assistant in place of Mr’ McClellan, and Miss 1 Malcolm and Mr F. R. Sharplin. have returned to the school as probationary assistants. Though Mr Hurdle had ceased -to be a member of the teaching stall at the school on Dec. 20, jlie regularly inspected the agricultural plots during the holidays and kept them in order.—Tile committee’, passed a vote of thanks to Mr Hurdle. In view-of the fact that the infant mistress has One class of 75 children, the committee decided to apply for an extra tougher. SCHOOL GROUND A .letter from the Wanganui Education Board .asked for particulars regaircling owttiars affected by tile school boundary fences.—Referred to ground committee. It was decided to apply for more bicycle accommodation'for the girls, and for screens to be. placed over the windows on the western side of the school building. SAVINGS BANK The Headmaster informed the committee that the .school savings bank would, resume operations next Monday. The scheme had been very successful last year.
