OROUA RABBIT BOARD
81-MONTHLY MEETING 'At the. meeting of the Oroua Kalihit Board Trustee B. N. Sandilands presided. over Trustees A. Campbell, M. Rasmussen L. G. Hogg, I). L. Younger, B. McLeod, and E. A. Palmer. DEAL DUTY. On the motion of Trustees Saudilands and Campbell it was decided to i forward a remit to the next Rabbit Boards’ Conference .staling that the Oroua Board is in favour of rabbit inspector being appointed noxiuos weeds inspectors. THE DELEGATES. Trustees Sandilands and McLeod were appointed the board’s delegates to tliQ forthcoming conference at Redding next month. INSPECTORS’ REPORTS Inspector A. H. Raisin submitted the following report: With the exception of a few sections near the rivers all country worked during the month, was practically free of rabbits. There are still a fair number on tho -Manawatu river. I v-pent a week trapping and managed to secure about dO larg earn! small rabbits. Some f th« settlers along the Manawatu river are cleaning up the 'lupins on thenproperty and this will he a big help towards getting rid of the pest. 'I he Spur road block is now 1 airly clean. With tlie. exception of areas in the vicinity ol the rivers and the Pohangina boundary, the block is fairly clean and as the breeding season is practically over I hope to have the* block clear before the next breeding season. 1 propose to concentrate in future on the worst mlested areas. Inspector Pa.sk reported: All the ground I have been over is in lad condition lor this time ot the jeai, although most of th ccountry has too much grass oil it for effective poisoning just now. Rabbits are I airly scarce and where found they are mostly in patches. The Rangitikci river area, its fairly clean and Tokarangi is also free from rabbits at present. Inspector Frscr: A decided improvement on all properties in my area lias been shown and good work has been done oil all the properties f have visited. All the properties along the Oroua. and Kiwitea are clear, although .1 am convinced that there are still many rabbits well under the ground. Several of the property owners in this locality no\v have crops on land where rabbits wore very numelons and one and all state themselves as liging very pleased with the iesults we have obtained. The reports were adopted.
