Seldom ha s a show secretary received the same measure of support ns that accorded Mr Jack Campbell. The result- amply proved the co-operation which has made itself evident.

The initial step in the formation of the Young Farmers’ Club must rp credited to Mr L. J. Wild, principal of the school, who conceived, the idea on a, trip through, certain of the States of America. Here it was that he recognised, the educational value of a junior show and it was not long after his return that the Feilding and. District Young Farmers Club, the first of it s kind. in. New Zealand, was inaugurated.

To-day the fine grounds of the Feilding Agricultural High School presented a busy scene. The weather, after all night rain, remained line until midday when a heavy shower threatened to spoil the outdoor attractions. The clouds soon broke, however, and the- crowds ventured forth to view the- excellent live stock display. The. indoor exhibition was unique. Different sections were arranged in each classroom with an indescribable array of exhibits Hie like of which has never been seen before in Feilding. The root and forage crops, vegetables and fruit wore classed in order awaiting the judges’ decisions. The quality throughout was excellent and the. number of entries far in excess of what had been anticipated. Tn tbe cooking and preserves sections thei young ladies found ample opportunity of showing their expertness in thei culinary art, while their handicraft was evidenced in the needlework. art crafts and art sections. Many pieces of beautiful worn were seen and the judges had a difficult but not unpleasant task and making their awards. Photography gave sufficient scope for the- camera enthusiasts. Tn school worlc the- commercial classes, typing. bookkeeping and shorthand, were among the best supported. Not of least importance were the classes for natural history collections, school forestry and horticulture. The show was officially opened this afternoon by tbe Hon. O. J. TTawken (Minister of 'Agriculture) before a. large assembly. Tbe show concludes to-night at 9 o’clock.
