WHEN THEY AIAY MARRY YET 10 IS AGE OF CONSENT (Per Press Association), Christchurch, April 21. “A fact which came under the notice of the Christchurch Society for the protection of Women and Children (luring the year just closed seemed to call for modification of the Marriage Act,” states the annual report. It was pointed out that the general public were not generally acquainted with the fact that while Hie ago of consent was 10 years —and there was u desire that it. should he raised —the age at. which a hoy or girl could be legally married was 14 and 12 respectively. The attention of the Government had been drawn to the matter, and it was expected that some suitable legislation would bo brought down at an early date.
