Tile dam supplied Los water swept through the valley while the inhabitants and workmen wer’e asleep. The loss to property is enormous, and. keeps on piling up. The. people arq still fleeing into the hills. This city’s ga?. supply was h.okon off. Much, potroloem was lost when the oil lines were torn up. Great damage was done to- the walnut and citrus orchards, winch were torn up hv the roots over n great area. Mr Edward Hyatt, ilia State engineer, states that the dam was in perfect condition when’ ii "ns last inspected and adds that it does not seem likely if could have h-'on dynamited by disgruntled farmers, as is suggested in some quarters.
