C( ).l IB ESPO N DEN CE From Xo. 9 Highways Council advising that in regard to subsidiary highways in the county the Long burn-Kongotea road i miles, had bean recommended to the Minister lor declaration, as a main highway. Information was required as to whether or not that portion ol the road passing through the iiongotea Town Board area would be maintained by the Board or the Council.—Cr Hunt: “I am very pleased indeed." Regarding the matter ol maintenance of that portion of the road through the Town Board district- it was jolt in the hands o! the chairman and Cr Hunt to colder with the Board’s representatives and arrive at some arnica biro arrangement.

From the Horowhenua County Council asking agreement with, its proposal to calls tenders tor the purchase of the old Manawai u bridge, including demolition.—Count'd ottered no objection. From the Oroua Downs Drainage Board advising an estimated cost ol Id 10 to ci'eau drains within its area.—The Council, on the motion of Cr Mclvelvic. agreed to the programme of drain die a nl/iig as recommended by the advisory committee with the understanding that no money is spent on the Pukipuki lake outlet.

From E. Gilbert. Taugimoaiia, complaining that nothing had been clone regarding , a building condemned by the County inspector. To he informed that Council can take no further action, hut that the complaint be forwarded by Mr Gilbert to the health officer.
