THE LATE MR J. A. BAILEY
I MANAWATU COUNTY REMEMj BERS HIM I Before proceeding with the ordinary business at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, Or. J. H. Perrett referred to the passing j of one of the oldest and most highly ' respected citizens in the person ol Mr J. A. Bailey, at the ripe old age of 89. The late Mr Bailey had acquired land in the Samlon district in the early KO’s and had resided there ever since. He was a resident in whom, one could place utmost confidence, said Cr. Perrett, and no one could over doubt his sincerity. Mr Bailey during his life, had been nesoI dated with almost every association and society inaugurated in the district. The speaker was confident that the late gentleman could have attained any position to which he aspired. “In his death,” concluded Cr. Perrott, “we have lost a grand old man. There is one consolation and that he was spared to see the ripe old age of nearly 90 years.” *A motion of sympathy with Airs Bailey and family was passed, all present rising in silence.
