A British official wireless message says that the King on Saturday received General .John Duncan, lately Commander of the Shanghai Defence Force, and conferred a knighthood upon him.
Mr Hugh Roehfort, sub-inspector of tho Bank of New Zealand, died at his residence, Khnndallah, yesterday, after a brief illness, aged G 1 years. He was well known in Feiluing. Mrs Alfred Richmond k his sister.
Mr Vivian Fail; forest assistant in the State Forest Service, has resigned to take up a position of forestry administrator and New Zealand manager for the Afforestation Pronrietry Co.. Ltd., of Melbourne, which is planting 25,000 acres of pumice land at Taupe.
