Seven 'taps, similar to the jn'evious lianimer code taps, were heard from the sunken submarine fit 0 p.m., but the listeners are not certain if the sounds were made by the imprisoned men. They believe that possibly the men are attempting io free themselves; The seas are still too heavy -o per-, mlt of rescue work, and hope Is rapidly fading for the-recovery of the Ax men. , All. resources, including pontoons, drills, and dredges, are mobilised, ready to ho used at the first sign of clear weather. (Received Dec. 22, 2 p.m.) All hope of rescue is abandoned.
