The Waitunasettlors' practically unanimously signed a petition urging that the present timetable should bo maintained. This petition was. handed to Mr J. Or. Eliott, M.P.. with the request tlmt he should present it to the Chief Secretary of the Postal Department, Cheltenham, Kiwi tea and Jvimbol- , ton settlors also got in. Touch with Air Eliott, having been told the morning mail to Ivimbolton and the midday return mail would ho altered. Yesterday afternoon. the following telegram was received from Air Eliott; — “Pleas© let tb© settlers know that it lias been decided bv tb© Chief Secrets rv that the present timetable. Feilding to Waituna, and Feilding to Ivimholton, must bo maintained; also that motor cars mini 1; p employed in 'thd senTtto and not motor cycles. No alteration to this arrangement to be agreed to by the department unless the settlers interest arc agreeable.”
