N.Z. RAILWAYS

STAFF TO BE REORGANISED

LOWER GRADES EFFECTED

(Ter Press Association), Christchurch, Sept. 12

The persistent rumour in the Railway Department as to a proposed stair reorganisation was to-day confirmed by a prominent railway official.

Tlie changes will not be in llio nature of retrenchment, he said, but in the lower grades of the Department. He understood that all positions would bo made vacant and employees would be given an opportunity of making application for, them. This would give lower grade men an .'opportunity of obtaining better positions and would'he a progressive rather than a retrograde step for most of the men.
