MASS PRODUCTION.
SYSTEM AT NEWMARKET
(Per Press Association) Auckland, Sept. 12. Railway wagons are being made by mass production at Newmarket workshops under the system inaugurated by Mr. E. T. Sidjey, superintendent of workshops. Under the system-; £ J” wagons are being turn- j ed out at Newmarket at the rate of 11 a. day.. Farmers need have no fear of a shortage of - trucks next year. Ac present 109 new ‘“.I” wagons are being repaired, all for the coining season. To the average mart a “J” wagon is simply a sheep truck. With the mass production system, everything is worked to schedulel. First of all. every article to the smallest holt is arranged for on these schedules and supervisors can ted as the work proceeds exactly how lar ' construction has advanced by simply glancing at tlie schedules. At Newmarket the first 50 of the new sheep trucks are well in hand. Thirty-eight have been completed and the balance will leave the shops v in a few days’ time .
