The even tenor of the Trade Union Congress was disturbed by the furnishing trade delegates moving to suspend the standin gorder to discuss the expulsion if the Seamen’s Union from the, congress and urging that the “transport” workers organise the seamen on a trade union basis.
Mr Poll it (Communist leader) in seconding the motion, said that if the question was not discussed congress'would be .st igmatised as futile.
Mr W. Citrine, Secretary of flic Congress, pointed out that the disputes committee of the congress had arranged to deal with the differences between the miners and the seamen and ensure Mr Haveiiock Wilson a fair hearing.
Alter a lively debate the motion was rejected by 91 votes to 63.
