Calcutta,, Sept. 10. .The recent inter-tribal fighting between Sunnis and Shiahs at Kalaya appeal’s to have been on a, serious scale. ■The tribe of Orahzai Sunnis bad Ihe assistance.! of Afridi La.shkar numbering 20,000. The Shiahs were hopelessly outnumbered but made a gallant fight from towers and trenches. Their casualties were only a hundred hut they lost all their land, homes, women and children, who passed into the hands of the Afridis. The Afridis suffered terrible Casualties. the dead alone numbering 000. There is a possibility of a counterattack and Ihe tribesmen have appealed to British political authorities and the- question whether action would ho advisable is under consideration.. A grave feature of the fighting is (•hat the trouble mav spread to the tribal inhabitants of the administered districts.
