PREFERENCE FQR DOMINION PRODUCTS FORMATION,OF A LEAGUE Auckland,. January 5. The Ncav Preference League. AA’hich came into being at a well-attended meeting of business inen in Auckland this afternoon, has for its main object the advancement of Dominion trade and the educating of public opinion in that direction The objects of the league are to.educate public* opinion to appreciate thc wisdom of giving preference to Now Zealand-made primary, secondary, and artistic products; to banish unemployment, . and provide for easy and rapid nbsopbtion of uoav population by securing public apreoiation of the excellence and variety ot New Zealand products, encouraging the production in New Zealand ql tlie highest grade articles and commodities and atraeting to the Dominion individuals AA’ith capital to iiiA r est, thus securing the establishment o"f neAV industries.
It is hoped to advance the interests of primary producers -by deA-eloping a stable and greatly extended Home market and .by assisting the establishment of industries'with'modern plant and equipment in country centres. Other aims of the league are to assist the consumer by discountenancing inferior productions and unreasonable prices, and by increasing the demand of NeAv Zealand made articles, and tn enrol members of the public pledged to give, preference to Ncav Zealand products.
The league desires it to he known that it is in no Avay hostile to primary production, alhougli it seeks to promote secondary industries. Tt recognises that the -development of both is necessary for the permanent industrial- progress of New Zealand.
