STEAM. TRAM AND BUS COL' LIDE BUT NOBODY SERIOUSLY’ HURT
A; collision between a motor bus full of passengers bound for Brown’s Bay «f>d a steam tram caw occurred on the Lake road, Takapun.lt, about 1G o’clock ibis■ morning.
Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when one of the tyres of the ’bus burst, causing the driver to swerve across the road over the tramlines. The engine of the tram crashed into the rea r of the ‘bus, a portion of which was smashed'. Com sidering the force of the impact it was surprising that the ’bus did not overturn. One of the passengers, a boy. sustained a broken', collar-bone and two ladies suffered’ considerably froni shock, but nobody was seriously injured. . i
The driver ,Hardaker, was thrown out hurt regained his seat while the vehicle was still in motion.
