MAFEKING DAYS RECALLED Johannesburg. Reminiscences of Rhe Maflpkiug siege days were related last, night at a reunion dinner given bj - ' the besiegers. and the besieged in honour of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, who was seated next to Coinniaudc'r Eloff, the former Boer leader. The Earl off Atlilone, th©., Gover-nor-General of South Africa, told how he served as a lieutenant in the Hussars in the Matebele rebellion under Sir Robert, and later marched to the relief of Maf eking. He de T dared that one of their best breakfasts after the relief was composed of horseflesh. Sir Robert made, a plea to Boers and Britons to work together. “Let us be wise,” he said, “and iio longer fools.”
