HELPING EACH OTHER. JOCKEY CLUBS IN HARMONY. MARTON THANKS FEILDING. A pleasing ceremony took place during the second day of the Alar Lon Jockey Club’s summer race meeting at Feikling racecourse. The stewards of the Marton Club met representatives of the. Feikling Jockey Club and conveyed their thanks to the latter for the use of the Folding course and appointments during the last- two years.

Mr It. S. Beckett, chairman of Hie Marton Club, said ,ho and his fellow members desired to express their presonal thanks for the courtesy and consideration shown by the Feikling Club .in'lending its course. He thanked their guests for putting the course in such splendid order, and paid a special tribute to the assistance Tendered by Air E. Goodbeliere, and the chib’s caretaker. Mr AV. £B. Glenn, M.P., also paid a tribute to the Feikling Club lor standing by the Marton Club in its difficulty.

Air.’A. E. Sandford responded on behalf of the Feikling Club. He congratulated Marton on the manner in which its meetings had been conducted, and said that if ever Feikling required any assistance he knew it would be given just as willingly and freely by Alarton. Air Edmund Good belie re, secretary ;of the Feikling Club, - said that by coming to Feikling for.assistance the Alarton Club had conferred, a great pleasure on his club, His fellow members had done what they could, and they were glad to know their efforts had been appreciated. NOTES AND COMMENTS. The feature of the Auckland Trotting Club’s summer meeting was the performance of the- New Zealand ehinapion Great Bingen, who paced two miles into third place in the President’s Handicap, and registered 4.19 2-5. The time, establishes a world’s record for the distance on grass track. On. the same afternoon Nelson Fame won the, Onslow ■lnndicapp Nelson Derby,. the runner-up, going the mile in ,2.9, which is a record under race conditions lor rise Kpso mcourse. The principal event, the President’s .Handicap, ended n* a complete victory lor horses hailing from Canterbury, the four leading places being filled by horses from that province. The totalisator turnover for the three "days amounted to £191,003, or £11,043 10s less than at the Cup meeting 12 months ago.

For tire summer meeting Gil the Auckland Racing Club the totaiisator again showed *v drop, the sum oi £98.450 10s being handled, as compared with £110,052 10s lor the third day of the corresponding meeting last year. This made a total, so far, for the fixture of £278,003, against £337,801, ib decrease of £59,258. The Great Northern Derby proved a good thing for Commendation, who won bv five lengths. The A.R.G. Handicap went to the R incur ton trained Footfall. Three jockeys were hurt during the day,')'wild two of them had to be sent to hospital. AV • Howe, the rider of Gold Rep m the New Year’s Hurdle Race, was struck on the mouth, when that horse came to grief, but be has since been discharged from the hospital. In the Newmarket Handicap, Merry, Jest (H. Lee) and Ballymoy (W. H, | Jones) fell. Bee received injuries to I his abdomen and left shoulder and I next morning iris condition was ie>- | ported not to be serious. Jones’ injuries were to bis face, but they ere not serious enough to warrant him being sent to hospital.
