ESCAPE OF PRISONERS

(Aust. and N.Z. Cable). Hobart, Nov. 22. The policetaro scouring th e country for two of foui* desperate criminals who escaped from the Hobart gaol yesterday iuftornoon. The fourth escapee, jumping from the prison wall, broke his leg, and' was recaptured. Tho men. with other prisoners, were attending a Salvation Army meeting in the exercise yard and were not .missed till a boy informed the l>olice that he had seen three prisoners funning along tho street. it is supposed' -hat they took advantage of the meeting to evade the guard and scale the prison buildings, oheu drop from the wall 14 feet high. An armed party of the police, recaptured one of the escapees, namedDowns, a long sentence man. five miles from the city.
