UTILISING ALL SERVICES
IN THE SOUTH ISLAND

After making a thorough investigation of traffic conditions in the northern routes, of the South Island, the Railway Department has decided on a six months' trial from December 6 of a combined rail and motor service, connecting Nelson, Blenheim, and Christchurch, via the East Coast. Similarly, train nnd motor are to co-operate for the convenience of travellers between Nelson and Greymouth. Through connections will also be possible with the North Island, via ferry steamers from Wellington to Pieton and' Wellington to Nelson respectively.
