INSPECTOR’S REPORT

During the past month 1 have been engaged in following up with personal inspection the poisoning circular sent out to land owners on the 14th ol last month. Weather conditions lor .poisoning have been ideal since the date of commencement, with the exception of lour days only, with the result that food work has been done. 1 am glad to be able to state that- the great majority of the farmers have carried out the Board’,j instructions in this general poisoning in a. much, more expeditious manner than on the occasion of the last general poisoning, with the result advantage ha,s been taken: Gji tlie fine weather. A small percentage of landowners have so far not poisoned, or made arrangements for so doing, all of whom have been coniniunipated with. If the work is n’ot'Tnimediately carried out a prosecution y will follow. In every part of the district the tallies from tl,ie; different poisonings talcing place are iniTch below those of last year, due solely,to the work done in between the two winter poisonings and at present the district as a whole is in very lair order. Now that the pest has been |yhsidernl>lv reduced in numbers, tliem&sbould lie no trouble in totally eradicating the rabbits on a great part o%jlie land in the Boa.rtV’fj area.

During the com pig month 1 will I f engaged in ' gpifij-m inspection work, more especially of those properties on which poisoning has not yet been complied twith.
