After six years’ research, in the laboratory of ibo University ol Illinois a chemical element lias been discovered by the use of an X-ray spectroscope and identified as element No. 61, for which ,scientists have been searching for years. If is not believed to lie radio-active. The discovery was made by Dr. Hopkins, of the University' of Illinois, and Air J. Allan Harris, his co-worker, a graduate of the University of British Columbia.
