While working on an electric line pole at Mount' Somers yesterday, an Ashburton Power Board employee named Marshall received a shock from a 6000-volt wire. He was unscrewing a nut, when the spanner dropped and his shoulder came, in contact with a live wire. He was badly burnt, and, in falling, to the ground, a distance of 20 feet, broke his thigh. FATAL FALL FROM POLE. CASUALTY AT OUTRAM*. Dunedin, Jan. 0. An electric linesman, Alex .Millei; Duff, aged 17 years, was killed by falling from an electric pole .at Outram this afternoon. He was conveyed to Dunedin hospital in an unconscious oendition and died, at the institution about two hours after tlie accident.
