HARLY ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED’ POSSI RLE A PPOINTM ENTS It is expected that within. the next few days the new Ministry will ho a n non need by the Prime Minister, and it is generally understood (says the Auckland Star) that Mr J. A. Young, Chairman of Committees, is a certain tv for Ministerial rank.
There would be still two portfolios to he filled, and a Star reporter learned from reliable sources that it was finite likclv that Mr K. S. Williams would he given the portfolio of Native Affairs.
The third appointment lay between Mr F. J. RoHeston (Timnrii) and Mr David Jones (Ellesmere). In the re-shuffle of portfolios, it is expected that with ’the raising of Mr Young to Ministerial Tank, Mr Hockly' will he appointed Chairman of .Committees.
The Hon. W, Downie Stewart will, it is anticipated, (take Finance, and Mr Coates will give uji Public Works ; and this portfolio will be taken by Air M/Leod, who will also keep that of Lands.
It is reported that Sir James Parr has pencilled berths for himself and Lady Parr by a steamer leaving for London next April. There has been talk for some months that Sir James Parr would he the next High Commissioner. It is significant that Sir James Allen’s term of office ends a few months Inter. If Sid James Parr does succeed SR James Allen, it is thought- hi wellinformed quarters that the Hon, E. P. Lee, M.P., will be appointed to Sir James Parr’s place in the 0° binct.
