M r Hi G. Carlyle, of Bulls Post Office, has been transferred - to Rangiwahia. At tlie Ohingniii Sports Club’s concert- Air George White was' the recipient of a gold-mounted fountain pen in recognition of his past services to the club. The Rev. E. C. R, B c nle, of Tolaga Bay, near Gisborne, has accepted the position of priest in charge of St. Margaret’s Church, Glasgow. He leaves New Zealand next month.
Sir Douglas Mawson, the Antarctic leader, arrived from Sydney at Auckland, by the Mauhganui yesterday. He will investigate forestry prospects in the Dominion.

The death occurred in Melbourne a few days ago of Mr Carlyle Smythe, journalist and impressario, who was Well known hi ■ New Zealand. A son of the late Air R. S.
Smythe, be was responsible for the visit here of M ir Alexander Watson, the elocutionist, and also foiv the lecture tour of Sir Conan Doyle.
Afr W. A. Waters, chief engineer of the ‘ Mnnawatu-Oroun Power Board, is on board the s.s. Tahiti, which sails for the "United States from Wellington to-day. Mr Waters expects to visit several American cities and also Canada, being, absent about three months. He is accompanied by Airs. Waters.
The death occurred unexpectedly after an operation, on New Year’s Eve, of Aliss Ada Diimmer, a member of the staff of Messrs R. Hannah and Co., Palmerston, and sister of Air Dummer, of Feilding. She 1 came to New Zealand from Sydney some five years ago to take up an appointment with the firm, being first stationed at Hawera. She was later transferred to Gisborne,- and some time ago came to Palmerston, where she acted as bead saleswoman.
