'• The other members of that team were Afayne, Pellew, (‘brier, McDonald, and Armstrong. Mr Svd. Smith who managed the ’ 'll team, will manage this one, too.
(Received December 31, 2 p.m.) Sydney, December 31. Commenting on the cricket team for England, the papers say it contains no surprises. The real trouble will be in the selection of the remaining three players to complete he team. , The-Morning Herald declares that the selection will form the nucleus of a powerful and well balanced side, capable of upholding Anstrnin’s prestige. It is strong in all departments, and every player is capable of securing runs. The howling provides a varied attack, while as to the vital question of fielding, probably there are only two who cnuiiA lie regarded as first class fieldsmen. Melbourne, December 31. The Board of Control lias decided that the second proposed match between the selected team and the Rest of Australia, which was to be played in Melbourne in ..February, shall be abandoned.

Aneklumj defeated Eeilding by an innings and 90. runs. Eeilding, Til its second innings, opened the batting with Daniels and Diet)nan at the crease. I here was some smart bowling and fielding on the part of the visitors, and at 12.-lo p.m. the home team bad boon dismissed/with a .total of 111 runs. Johnston took four wickets for 40 runs.
