MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting > of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce was held in the Borough Council Chambers Inst. night. There were present Messrs W. E. Carthew (president), R. Cobbe (vice-presi-dent), Jas. Campbell, V. E. Smith, A. MeCorkindale, P. B. Desmond, S. ft. Pearce and G. Fitzpaitrck (secretary). CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were placed liefore the meeting and dealt with as follows: Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, with regard to accommodation for the delegate to the annual conference of chambers. —The President was appointed delegate. Letter recived. •Manawatu County Council, giving the Chamber permission to erect signboard oii Mount Stewart, subject to the approval of the engineer. Wellington Chamber of Commerce notified the arrangements for conferences on" tourist traffic and publicity and on migration. BA 1 LAV AN CROSSING. The secretary reported that the committee had been tillable to peiEnade the Railway Department to place a warning signal at the Kimbolton road railway crossing. He proposed that the Borough Council be asked to have a danger light hung over the crossing. Tile motion was seconded by Alf Pearce and agreed to. BANG T. W ATTIA CON G R ATP DATED The President proposed that the Chamber offer hearty congratulations to the Bangiwahia Dairy Co. on having won the world’s butlei championship at the recent exhibition in; Auckland. This victory, said the. President, was a most meritorious performance. The motion was seconded by -Mr Cobbe and carried ,unanimously.
